Happy Birthday Jayke!!

Jayke turned 3 this past Friday!! Who can believe he is growing up so fast. Chelsea had his party on Sunday and he had quite the time! Nothing beats getting to open all of his "presanents" as he says. Here are some pictures of the happenings.

Low Key Easter Weekend

Easter weekend was pretty low key for Jim and I. We had earlier made plans for our anniversary and hadn't even thought about it being Easter so unfortunately it took a bit of a back burner which is disappointing since it is one of my all time favorite holidays. Even at that the weekend was good.

We both took Friday off work to spend some much needed down time together. It was nice to relax. We also went to some antique stores for fun, not for anything in particular and we didn't find anything to buy, but I wouldn't mind getting some cool retro stuff for the kitchen and dining room but all in due time.

Saturday we cleaned the house a bit and Jim made reservations for a hotel for the evening. You can priceline some pretty darn good deals and it felt like we were away without spending money on gas. We stayed at the West Des Moines Marriott and when we got there the guy asked us why we were there and we told him and he upgraded us to a super nice suite for free so that was awesome! The room was super cool, and big. We had dinner out at Rube's, a local grill your own steak house which is way cooler than it sounds. The rest of the evening was spent enjoying our dearly missed cable...haha!

Sunday we woke up, grabbed the paper and breakfast and chilled in the hotel room. When we left the Easter Bunny was in the lobby since they were serving a big Easter brunch, it made me feel festive for whatever reason! Jim's Mom was suppose to come in town but then couldn't make it so we did lunch with just Jim's sister instead. We hung out at her place until heading home Sunday afternoon.

I was also excited to get a couple Easter cards in the mail. My Mom and Jim's Dad always send cards for the holidays, all of them! And I love getting them. The sentiment is always sweet and it is nice to be thought of even when we are further away. I was especially excited about the card from Jim's Dad. He always includes a gas card which is already awsome but this time I got a gas card of my very own! I know it sounds corny but I was SOOO excited to pull one out with my name on it and everything! Thanks Mom and Harry for always thinking of us and making us feel special!

Happy Anniversary To Us!

Who can believe it has been 6 full months since our wedding? Jim and I spent the weekend together and had a nice night out last night to celebrate. In honor of our 1/2 year anniversary, and since I haven't shared any yet, here is a montage of our wedding photos. What great memories of an amazing day!

Productive Weekend

Well this weekend was awfully productive at the Davis house. A friend of mine, Emily, is going to be renting out our basement for awhile since we are not needing the extra room yet and she is needing a place to live. So on Thursday evening we got the first coat of paint on the family room downstairs. I have to say, we bought cheap walmart paint and it worked just as well, if not better, than the expensive paint we had bought for other rooms in the house. On Friday I came home and got another coat on and Emily came over and shampooed the carpets so it was all ready for move in on Saturday.

Saturday was spent cleaning and organizing a lot of things that we had been putting off. We got our old furniture moved from the garage to the other room in the basement (not Emily's room but this other space we have). We also got the living room, kitchen, den, dining room, and bath cleaned organized and in living condition. It feels so much more like home with things feeling a bit more in there place. Saturday night we had Barb over and ordered some pizza and watched TV, it was nice and relaxing.

Sunday we ran some much needed errands to return a couple of things to Home Depot and we also ran to Sam's and found out many of the things on our walmart list could be gotten at Sam's and last us a whole lot longer. I am especially obsessed with the Swiffer Wetjet that Jim's Mom gave us and am pumped I can get all the refill and pads I need at Sam's. One thing I have learned fast here is that there is no such thing as clean wood floors for long, they need to be swept darn near constantly and the swiffer is my new best friend.

Today I head in for a consultation with an oral surgeon to get my wisdom teeth out so wish me luck. I am not looking forward to it but it absolutely has to be done.

New Look

Well thanks to viewing some friend's creativity our blog has a fun new look. I have been wanting to be able to change the background and really make it different and thanks to Ana I found a good place to get some backdrops and I like the new look.

I am also super happy to have gotten my photography website set up. I still have to add the pictures yet but it is coming along. If you know anyone with photography needs give them my info. I am cheap but I promise I am good!

Our New Vehicle

Well after a whirlwind of car hunting the last couple of days Jim and I decided on a 2003 Chevy Trailblazer. The price was right and it is equipped with all the gizmos and doodads that Jim can appreciate. It is the North Face version so it has a sharper look to it than some other Trailblazers. Jim is out of town through today so we are not picking it up until Friday but we are both pretty happy with our choice!

Accident

Last week we had yet another ice and snow storm here in Des Moines. While Jim was on his way to work he hit a patch of ice and slid into the car in front of him right as he was going to hop on the interstate. Of course the other guys truck had little damage, I am sure his bumper needed replaced but other than that it was fine. Jim's explorer on the other hand had a bit more damage.

His passenger side headlight was broken, the hood was buckled, the bumper and frame was damaged as well as some other stuff. It looked quite bad. Jayke was here this weekend and he kept saying "whoa Jim, you're car is broken" every time he walked past it. Because of the age of Jim's car (it's a '97) the insurance company decided today to just total it out. So we have about 2 days or so to find a new vehicle. Wish us luck!

Back Online

Well after a little bit of hassle we have our DSL internet working at our house. It is nice that we will both be able to get a little work done from home, although I think I am more productive when I do it at the school, but NOTHING beats the comfort of home.
