We had Charlotte's 6 month appointment yesterday. She was very healthy! Her ear infection was gone and she was a champ with her shots, no fever or anything. I actually stayed in the room this time (although I hid my head and cried). We went ahead and got her the preservative free flu shot for the regular flu and she did well with that also which was awesome since Jim is allergic to eggs. Her stats are as follows:
Length: 27 inches 80th percentile
Weight: 19lbs 13 oz. 95th percentile
Head: 17 inches 65th percentile
She's just rockin' along like a super star. We were given the green light for baby food so that will be our next adventure! Tonight is beggar's night and Halloween is this weekend so we are all very pumped about taking Charlotte out. She will be cute as ever!

Pumpkin Patch~In Pictures
Hello and Welcome to the Pumpkin Patch...
We stopped to see the goats. Charlotte was not a huge fan.
The goats climbed up high.
Charlotte looked very cute as we started heading in. She was still pretty tired from sleeping in the car.
Our first stop was to see all the pumpkins
Dad gave Charlotte kisses to help cheer up
We took a family picture.
Then we watched Dad be silly.
After that we checked out the Howell's Pumpkin Patch display.
I'm a little pumpkin too!
Dad helped Charlotte blow kisses to Mom. Awww!
There were lots of different pumpkins to look at.
Charlotte got to pick out a pumpkin of her very own.
We went to go play in the little kid area. Charlotte and Dad played on the tire horse.
She might have sort of liked it....we think?!?
Look at our little lamb. This will seem more appropriate come Halloween!
Riding a tractor.
Looking cool!
Wow! That play area was fun!!
An absolutely wonderful day at the Pumpkin Patch. Our family is great!

Ear Infection
On Monday the 19th when Charlotte turned 6 months old I pretty much started panicking. SO many people I knew were telling me that now since she was 6 months old she was going to get sick. So and so's baby got the flu, another's got a cold, another got sick and dehydrated and so eventually they took him to the emergency room, etc... etc... etc...
Needless to say I was worried. And like clock work on Tuesday the 20th I pick Charlotte up from daycare and she hadn't eaten her bottle that day. Not like she just wasn't interested, but she was MAD at even trying. We got home and she was fine. Ate like a champ, I was taking her temperature constantly and it was normal. She was just slightly clingy but we were getting off a weekend away so no big deal. Wednesday she was a bit fussy again at daycare which is unusual. She didn't want to play on the floor and she ate kind of bad again. But again, that night she was great but still slightly clingy so I kept checking her temp and watching her. I did notice her voice sounded a little hoarse and eventually there was a little bit of wax gunk in her ear. When we woke up on Thursday her right eye seemed a bit swollen and watery so I called the doctor. I knew something wasn't right but I just wasn't sure what. I got her in later that morning and sure enough she had a slight ear infection in her right ear. We got a prescription for amoxicillan and headed on our way.

She never had a fever so that I am thankful for. She handled it like a champ and to be honest I was a little relieved to get the first illness over with. Now let's hope for a healthy winter! These pictures are from Thursday 10-22 when I took her in to the doctor. She looked so cute when we got home from daycare later that day I took some pictures. Jim liked her and Odie sitting together! I love this one of our first attempt at medicine. We learned quickly how NOT to give it!

Dubuque
The weekend of Oct. 17th Jim, Charlotte and I headed to Dubuque for Joy's birthday. We decided to head out Friday night after Charlotte's bed time hoping she would sleep through the drive and go back to bed once we got there. Unfortunately, it didn't really work that way. We left between 9:45 and 10 and she slept in the car well. We pulled into Joy's place about 1:15 am. After getting everything upstairs to her apartment and the pack and play put up the girl who we thought was still sleeping was WIDE awake. We spent until about 3:30 or later trying to get her back to sleep before she finally nodded off. Poor Jim (who drove) was so tired! Luckily for us she slept in a bit on Saturday!
Saturday morning we spent playing. Charlotte was being so cute! She rolled all over the floor and wrapped herself up in her blanket. Then she started playing peek-a-boo. Just check out the video...it's adorable!!
Saturday afternoon we got ready to head out. Jim thought it would be fun to head to Galena, IL. He has always told me I would love it and boy was he right! Charlotte napped in the car on the way there but once we had her out she was certainly bright eyed!

I think Joy enjoyed our trip as well. Here she is with Jim and Charlotte. We all got around town very well and enjoyed all of the little shops. We didn't buy much, but I certainly could have!Jim ran to the car to get Charlotte's hip sling carrier and Joy and I were in a toy store. They had an entire bathtub full of rubber duckies! By the end of the day we were all pooped! We finally decided it had gotten a little too chilly and we should head out. We went back to Dubuque and hung out for a short while. Eventually, we headed back out to treat Joy to dinner for her Birthday. She chose to go to the Olive Garden. We all had a nice time. We were there 2 years ago celebrating her 60th only that was a surprise!Sunday we had breakfast out and then got ready to head home. We picked up Jim's friend Dude to bring him back this way (he was dropping off his old car for his teenage nephew to have...lucky boy!). The trailblazer was a bit tight but we all made it!
I kept trying to get pictures of Charlotte's teeth on the way home and finally succeeded....sort of! Her two bottom ones are poking through if you can see them. She got her first tooth the weekend of the 3rd and the second the weekend of the 10th. Teething wasn't too bad but we certainly have a lot more to go!

6 Months!!
Charlotte turned 6 months old today. It is amazing to think that she has been in our lives for 1/2 a year already! It seems like such a short time ago that I was pregnant even. Let me tell you, we absolutely could not have asked for a more perfect daughter for us.
.
Charlotte is a little spit fire. She is always wanting to move and groove and find new things to pull on (especially Mommy's hair and glasses). One of her favorite things right now is tags, she will find the tag on anything and that will be her favorite thing to play with. She rolls across the room and is rarely content being still. She loves her jumper (that Dad just brought home for her today!) and her walker. She has an absolute blast in them!
.
Charlotte has become quite a happy baby. Although she has a flair for the dramatic (I have NO idea where she get that! ) she is usually quite content. She smiles like you wouldn't believe and her laugh is seriously the cutest thing in the ENTIRE world. She has two teeth in on the bottom and she loves to cheese them when she smiles now. It is hilarious!
.
Charlotte is so ticklish and fun to play with. I don't think Jim and I love anything more than just being with her. I can't explain how lucky were are to have her...she's totally awesome and we love her A LOT!!
.
Happy 6 Month Birthday Char Char!

5 Month Pictures
I took these pictures of Charlotte in September for her 5 month birthday. Jim wasn't able to be there and I forgot her bumbo seat so I was trying to hold her and take pictures at the same time...so...this was the best it got. I was trying to capture some sun flair and I did so I still like them. She looks so contemplative and sweet...we just love her so much!

On Saturday, October 10th we got our first snow. Charlotte watched intently with her Dad and seemed to really be interested.
